The question of fees should be addressed and committed to writing during the initial consultation.  Generally, there are three different ways that attorneys charge fees such as:

• on a contingency basis;
• on an hourly basis; and,
• on a fixed fee basis.

When hiring an attorney for his/her expertise and advice, the client should expect to be charged for the time that an attorney spends on behalf of the client.
